Cover Savage Dragon #241

Savage Dragon #241 came out on the 2nd of January. Jeez! I guess launching the Wiki and having a kid really takes a toll on my posting here. Anyway, the next issue is still 3 weeks away so I guess I’m still on time, sort of.

Savage Dragon Wiki 2.0 is online

Posted by Stefan Kalscheid in Newsone comment

Hey guys! In case you missed it: A couple of days ago I finally launched the new and completely rebuild Savage Dragon Wiki 2.0. The relaunch came just in time for Christmas. I had promised to get it done before the end of the year and I’m glad I made. A couple of people have already signed up as editors and are hard at work to bring the Wiki up to date. It’s great to see this thing take off after months of working on it on my own. Make sure you check out the new Wiki and if you are willing to lend a hand send me an e-mail.

Savage Dragon #240 on sale!

Cover Savage Dragon #240

Savage Dragon #240 came out last Wednesday. You really don’t want to miss this one.

Last month I talked about the advantages of digital comics — this month I have to give you guys the heads up that Image Comics will shut down its digital comics service. Make sure you download a backup of all the comics you might have bought there. That’s the problem with digital copies of comics: You don’t have a physical copy in your home that is safe and sound even if your PC crashes or a service comes to an end. Comixology is still around of course and I will keep providing the link to their shop but let me encourage you to put Savage Dragon on your pull list at your comic shop. A lot of retailers don’t even seem to know that Savage Dragon is still being published and the book can use all the exposure it can get…

Savage Dragon #239 on sale!

Cover Savage Dragon #239

In case you missed it — and I know I nearly did — Savage Dragon #239 came out last Wednesday. Of course, I have a pull list and get the actual comic book but I’ve been buying the digital versions as well those last couple of years. That means I can always read the book the minute it comes out (and I’m glad I get notified once the book is available) and double dipping is my way to support Erik and to keep the book going. I also buy the collected editions of course.

So if you feel like buying digital comics you can get the latest issue at Image Comics and Comixology

Wikispaces closed down

The day we all dreaded has come. Well, actually it was 4 days ago but I was busy, so today I finally updated the link in the navigation to point to the temporary backup version of the beloved Savage Dragon Wiki. And while I was at it I corrected some mistakes I found so now everything should be up and working. If you find any missing images or dead links let me know.

In the meantime, I’m working on the NEW WIKI. It’s coming along nicely.

Cover Savage Dragon #238

Oh boy, time sure does fly when you’re having fun! While I was (and still am) working on the new version of the Wiki those last few weeks, erratic Erik went straight back to the drawing board and churned out the next issue of the Savage Dragon. Issue #238 went on sale today and it’s a blast as always. Seriously, guys, this one has it all: missing bodyparts, violence, body fluids, robots… You name it — PLUS a backup story featuring the fan-favourite “Deadly Duo”.

Visit your local comic shop or grab your digital copy right now over at Image Comics or Comixology.

Check it out! Erik delivers another issue of Savage Dragon just two weeks after the last one. This is insane. Show me another creator who can keep up with that pace. I certainly can’t — my “reviews” are falling more and more behind. Ah well, let’s look at the bright sight: It’s new comic book day for us Dragon fans. Visit your local comic shop or grab your digital copy right now over at Image Comics or Comixology.

Preview pages as usual over at Image Comics!

In review: Savage Dragon #233

Posted by Stefan Kalscheid in News | Reviewsno comments

Savage Dragon #233 came out in april 2018.

The cover had been solicited month before and had caused some interesting conversations among fans and interested bystanders. At that time Erik had just decided to take the book to an even more explicit direction and the media was paying close attention to what was going on in the book.

Even a cover that doesn’t really show anything stirred up some heat and I remember seeing someone post a picture of his comic shop selling this issue in black(ened) bags.

Some might recall that the cover originally looked slightly different and that Erik – at one point – even had two version up for a vote on twitter and facebook with different texts on Maxine’s shirt.

Here are the two early cover designs. As you can see Erik went with the “Bald is beautiful” version but changed the background color. He also added a little cover blurb that addresses the start of Malcolm’s and Maxines reality TV show in this issue. If you think you’ve seen something like that before: roughly 200 issue ago Erik released a variant for Savage Dragon #30 with a very similar eyecatcher…

The issue also comes with a backup feature starring Switchblade by Ben Bishop and the story actually is connected to the main feature which makes it even better.

As usual, here’s a list of articles regarding #233. Feel free to drop me a message if you dicover anything that should be added.
