Vanguard's spaceship is attacked by a fleet of invading alien ships, who land in New York city and kill and capture hundreds of civilians. Jake Farrel enlists the help of Freak Force, and meanwhile, crime lord Johnny Redbeard, creator of the Nixed Men, the Throwaways, The Fantastical Force, and countless other superpowered beings in Chicago grants a helpless thug superhuman abilities.
